In continuation of its efforts to ensure indigent visually impaired students are financially, digitally and socially included, Seeing Hearts Foundation has sponsored ten (10) blind students to write the 2024 JAMB Examination.

We partnered with the National Association of the Blind to shortlist ten (10) eligible students who are indigent, have a track record of academic excellence and have demonstrated strong commitment to pursue further studies despite negative stereotypes about their sight.

According to our Founder and Chief Executive, Ms.. Tope Songosonu  ‘equality, and inclusion are key to our work at Seeing Hearts Foundation and we want to ensure we provide wholistic support to visually impaired students who are from indigent backgrounds to achieve their full potential, ‘ she said. “These beneficiaries have struggled to acquire secondary education and obtained excellent results, despite the many challenges that they face. Our decision to finance their JAMB Examination is in alignment with our objective to create an enabling environment for every visually impaired persons to thrive. Being visually impaired should not limit one’s ability to be great in life. These beneficiaries have potentials that can be further developed and deployed to improve their lives and that of the society at large if they get advanced education. If we fail to support them, we are limiting their potentials and this failure can be linked to many other negativities.”

The Founder reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to continually empower indigent, visually impaired people, one inclusive step at at time. She also added that the Foundation exists to provide a 360 degrees support to poor people who suffer from blindness including financial support, provision of quality education, quality healthcare and eye care as well as advocacy and community engagement amongst several others.
