Abdulazeez: Finding Hope in the Darkness – March 2025

“Hardship often prepares ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny”, this is a statement that always encourages and motivates me whenever I want to look down on myself, due to discrimination from people around me. My creator has made me to understand that the only way to achieve the impossible is to believe that my goal is 100 percent possible.

My ability may have not been known to anyone if not for the unwavering support and advice given to me by some people. Firstly, my special mother, it is great to have you as my mother. I really appreciate you; your support, unconditional love and guidance have made me the person I am today. Your selflessness, patience and kindness inspire me every day.  I am grateful for the sacrifice you made to ensure we grow with the best character, behaviour and mindset. I also appreciate all my siblings for the great support they have always shown me before and after I lost my sight. You have all played various roles in motivating and encouraging me to know the right and next thing to do; you deserve a good ‘thumbs up’.

My gratitude also goes to Taiwo Olamide Fatimoh, for his inspiration. He was the person who made me understand that you do not have to study Special Education to know how to relate with a person with special needs. The first impression I have of you will forever stay with me. I cannot thank you enough.
